360° change of emotions

I reached e company at abt 10am even though my interview was scheduled at 1030am. As usual, I was given a form to fill up the relevant information along with a personality test paper. I filled both up at the corner of the reception area. In e midst of filling up my particulars and all, another woman came into the reception area. Hhmmm.. She was applying for the same job.. Rival! Hahaha! Anyway, she filled up the form real fast and handed it back to the receptionist while I take my own sweet time to fill up the blanks.

Not long after, she was called in! Hello!!!! I was there first! Nevermind.. I sat there and waited rather patiently for my turn while 2 other interviewees came in (1 with the IT look, e other - I dunno what look). A lady came out and 'Sharon?'. With that, I went into this meeting room and met another guy (he looked like a creative director with that funky speckys of his). We chatted for about half hour and at e end of it, he said "You just wait a while, there's a 2nd interview with the GM." WOW!!! I cleared the first round!

After a waiting time of about 10mins, the same lady brought me in to the GM's office. The GM was a plump fella and he started cracking jokes upon meeting him.. That eased my tension actually.. Hahaha! The 2nd interview was short and sweet. Within 15 minutes, I was out of his room and on the way out of the office. Before leaving the place, I asked when I'll get an answer from them and they said by this Friday.. I said my thanks and left the place for work..

On e way in a cab, I was hoping and praying that I'll get the job 'coz it was somewhat an events position where I need to coordinate, plan and organize events and all.. I'll definitely love my job scope despite the bulk of work to do..

Come 6pm, I had a missed call.. It was from the COMPANY!!! Yippeee!!!! I called back immediately, hoping someone will pick up the phone since it's near official knock-off time! The HR Director picked up (whoooopie!) and said, "We would like to offer you the job!" YIPPEEEE!!! I nearly screamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But managed to control it.. Heehee~ I felt like I was at the top of the world!!!!!!!!

She then went on to telling me the pay package.. My jaw dropped.. My basic pay will be affected by a $500 pay CUT!!! I was like LOST.. My so-called dream job is paying peanuts! This is a case of job satisfaction vs material needs.. How am I supposed to survive on that pathetic pay????? She went on saying that they have 2x pay increment, bonus and blah blah which probably evens out to be the same as my current basic pay.. Here's the cash, all the cash incentive is based on PERFORMANCE. Not saying that I won't be performing but these incentive are all controlled from the up-above people. You step on their tails and that's it..

I told her that I will really need some time to think about this.. Which I did and eventually get a headache.. I was deciding between this particular 'dream' job and another one which has a $100 pay increment as well as a quarterly variable component.. I have interest in both jobs but definitely have more for the job that is going to cut my pay for $500! Living in a realistic world, I can't afford to have a pay cut with all my financial commitments kicking in..

Nothing much to think, I decided to call my 'dream' job and reject them.. If they are really interested in hiring me and sees me as the WOMAN for the job, they'll top up.. If not, too bad for them.. Hahaha! It's their loss.. Gggrrrr.... I was praying the night before, in the cab on e way for the interview and at the reception area while waiting for my turn!!!! Praying to get the job and in e end, I got it but along with a huge disappointment..
