foreign.talent

past few weeks, the topic on foreign workers seemed to b e talk of e town (other than e financial recession).. i, for one, do understand hw fellow singaporeans feel.. however, on e other hand, i do agree that we need them..

why do i say so?

simple.. when i went to see hw my hs is doing, e workers i met there are all foreign talents.. e bangladeshi worker is laying e electrical cables while at e corner, a chinese national is plastering e wall w cement.. 1 minute later, two malaysians came by and laid the piping for me air-con..

interesting eh?

i find that amusing too.. my house, is being renovated by foreign talents whether i like it or not.. i'm amazed at their versatility.. they haf dis hunger to learn any skills n courage to take on jobs that r shunned by many singaporeans.. mayb it's bcoz they r more than a hundred miles away fr hm bt it's still smthing to applaud them..

where r e singaporeans then?

oh, they r my contractor n e sales guy whom explained e difference between an inverter air-con and e conventional type.. that's us, singaporeans.. e need and want to sit in an air-conditioned place to work or haf a proper chair and table for meals.. that's us.. shaking our legs, enjoying e air-con n complaining abt people whom put in perspiration to build a roof over our heads..

so i support foreign talent?

yes, to a certain extent.. we truly truly need them.. w/o them, will our streets be clear of garbage? w/o them, what kind of housing will we b living in? bt i also do agree dat there is a portion of them dat may nid to go thru an etiquette course.. bt that's prob due to culture n background eh? we're juz luckier..

we ain't angels ourselves.. juz coz they ain't singaporeans, doesn't mean they ain't human.. y dun we learn to accept them for who they r.. put yrself in their shoes.. hw wld u feel if u were ostricised n thrown into some containers that u need to call hm, in e forested area away from e hustle n bustle?

i wld feel sucky.. hw abt u?

Me thinking of such issues too!
I was at WL CC then a PRC came to me ask me to translate a slip which he gotten from a petrol station --- some SOP things to ask the driver when they drive in.

He couldnt even understand basic.. but yet I wonder if given, will Singaporeans now take up the job @ petrol kisok.. pumping petrol.
