today's my 1st time, helping out a job fair.. it saw throngs of pple! pple came in from s early s 8.00am n kept on streaming in until e very last minute at 4.30pm.. it was a tiring tiring day bt one dat brought me to e reality of life n our current situation..

w all dat talk abt economic downturn n hw govt is helping e companies on sustaining their business n hw sm pple r getting retrenched n so forth n so on, i didn't really feel e impact until today..

all kinds of pple came to e job fair..
- pple willing to take on any job juz so they haf sm income;
- pple willing to take on any pay;
- pple dressed in shirt & pants;
- pple dressed in t, berms & flip-flops;
- pple who were our grandparents' age;
- pple who were of sec sch age;
- pple who brought not even a pen for interview;
- pple who brought their resumes & stacks of certs;
- pple who know wat kinda jobs they r looking for;
- pple who know nuts abt wat they wan;
n e list goes on..

most of e js were nice n understanding.. sm gave a look when we had to restrict to registered peeps s it was way overcrowded.. looking at them, i felt a need to help them in any way i can.. well, we were tasked mainly to help them fill up their application forms n provide directions shld they require any..

that said, i was exploited.. haha~ this aunty claimed she didn't noe hw to fill up e form n asked if i cld do it on her behalf.. so i said yes, i can fill up 1 form but then ul need to copy it to e other 2 similar forms.. she said ok.. with that, i explained to her wat e form required n filled up e info as we go along.. e aunty was also complimenting hw nice my handwriting was when i filled up e info.. now, when we came to e part abt whether she could speak and write english, she said YES..

stunned, i looked at her n asked, 'aunty, u noe hw to write english ar? den hw come u not filling up e form??' she said she can't see well n because her handwriting was chak chak n believed that i would have better handwriting which will then gif employers a good impression! well, she is right to a certain extent but she could haf juz told me right fr e start that her handwriting was chak chak!

anyhws, she managed to talk me into filling up e other 2 forms for her.. so while filling up e last form, her fren said it wld b better for her to fill up e forms personally as that would mean more sincerity.. the aunty then suddenly asked me nt to fill up e form anymore n dat she wld like to fill up by herself..

i'm like diao! i finished filling up all e forms liaoz lo!!! best part, she asked if i cld gif her another form so that she can fill it up in order nt to get a possible scolding fr her potential employer! i told her dat we r unable to as there is a kinda restriction and left her to wait for her fren to finish filling his forms so that they can head in n shop for jobs..

cute aunty she is.. i guess she's juz trying her best to land herself a job.. i hope she will get e job that she applied for!

anyways, it was really an eye-opener n a hit into e reality of life / situation dat we are in.. nt forgetting, i still haf a cubicle to call my own n a mthly income to look forward to..

oh, i also hope dat dis other uncle dat i helped to fill up e forms will get e job dat he applied for.. =)
