sunny.boy

as most of us know, qing ming festival juz passed.. qing ming, a period which most of us (esp e cheenas) head to wherever our ancestors and loved ones are rested peacefully, to 'spruce' up e place. my family's usual practice - gather @ 207 (aunt's place) by 7am n head towards lim chu kang cemetery to visit me grandpa, grandma, grand-uncle and mummy (e columbarium nearby).

this year, on e last day of qing ming festival, i had wanted to visit a friend.. he, who left us last year in a freak accident.. e first time i went guang ming shan, it was packed.. no no, it was super packed.. to e extent that it was jam n no parking lots were made available n thus, decided to come back another day..

last sunday was e day i went to pay a visit to sunny boy.. there he was, smiling as ever.. this boy, 1st known him about 9 to 10 years ago.. while i was playing ice hockey and he got started in our ice hockey practices.. he was a newbie while my fellow team-mates and i were like big jie jie over him.. i recalled how we teased n disturbed him during our practices and yet he remained e joker smile.. when i left e hockey scene, i passed my jersey n socks to him n amazingly enough, 5 to 6 years later when i went back, he remembered..

this time, we reversed roles.. he was one of the fastest players in the team and has even taken on the coach role, guiding newbies or rusties (like myself) on ice hockey tactics.. i'll never forget his advice to me for my role as a defender - "make e first move to force e player to do something..". i respected him for his skills n his never-say-cannot attitude..

(our 1st & last skating outing - he tried many x to get this shot)

i can still remember very clearly e few hours we spent as a group b4 e freak accident.. no need to elaborate on such stuff but really hoped that he is still smiling at wherever he might be.. i believe he was there when we fought our hearts out at e ice hockey tournie @ sunway lagoon last year.. this year, it'll b no different.. hope ur having fun with your own ice rink and learning how to drive that zamboni ya..

rest well, sunny boy..
